Nina White began her career in the social work field in 1999 at the Division of Public Assistance (DPA), Alaska Works Program, where she assisted clients in meeting their goals in obtaining employment and achieving self-sufficiency, as well as helping families complete complicated program application, ensuring applications were complete and clients were receiving all benefits and services available to them. As an advocate for independence and self-sufficiency, Nina created the first large-scale Community Resource List while at DPA, allowing clients to have a list of community resources available to them beyond the services DPA could provide. Through success in coordinating medical services and responsibilities for a diverse client base, Nina is well versed in the nuances of the healthcare sector, and is at ease helping patients to improve their overall healthcare experience. By liaising effectively between patients, staff, and administrators, she is adept at identifying patients’ unique needs and requirements and developing and implementing individualized care plans to help them achieve their objectives. Nina has a passion for the developmentally disabled and has been very active with Special Olympics since 2010. Nina has worked with the Special Olympics organization as a volunteer in Alaska and California, and as a Special Olympics Ambassador in Arizona. Nina has 11 years’ experience working with dementia, including Alzheimer’s, and understands the unique circumstances families face when a loved one struggles with dementia. <br />Other areas that Nina is passionate include the foster care system – having fostered children in her home between 1997 and 2012 – and hospice and the support that families receive through the local hospice program, having personal experience with Hospice of Mat-Su on multiple occasions since 2008. <br />Nina began care coordination in 2017 and enjoys advocating for individuals and families who cannot advocate for themselves and believes that we are all connected through our community. Nina is two classes away from earning her BSW from the University of Alaska Anchorage. In her spare time, Nina enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandson.
